Atlantic Canada’s Airports

Atlantic Canada’s airports are gateways to our cities, towns and provinces, and they reflect our region’s innovation, prosperity and Charlottetown Airportpersonable, service-oriented nature.

In 2006, Atlantic Canada’s locally-controlled airports handled 6.5 million passengers, an increase of 5.2 % over 2005. Passenger growth in the region has increased every year since 2002. In fact, Atlantic Canadian airports have been consistently among the top 10 in Canada for passenger growth over the past five years.

Air access and capacity have also been on an upward trend. It is now more possible than ever to fly directly to more destinations within Canada, North America and the world from an airport in Atlantic Canada.

Since transferring from federal government control in the late 1990s, Atlantic Canada’s airports have invested in excess of $300 million in capital projects. These investments have allowed our airports to expand their capacity to handle every increasing passenger and cargo traffic, and to enhance the travel experience for business people, tourists and families.
